SULFUR Item Attributes: What Luck, Charisma and More Do
Quick answer
Poison blood has no description in the item text, but players who combed every item in the game report it simply does what the name implies — Perfect Random deliberately keeps many SULFUR item attributes vague, so several effects are only documented by players who tested them. Luck, charisma, weapon weight and a handful of quirks do have concrete, tested behavior. Here is what each one actually does, as of the 1.0 release in late October 2026.

Luck
Luck was disabled for most of Early Access and was reactivated with the Dungeons and Magic update. A player who ran extensive testing with dev stats open describes it working like a loot budget:
- Luck increases the chance of items dropping from enemies and breakables. It does not affect rarity — that is the loaded die's job.
- You generate luck every minute of active play. The default is 1 luck gain per minute even with no gear; luck-giving items such as four-leaf clover trinkets, the Santa hat and elf shoes raise that rate.
- Your banked luck caps at 20. Church hub generation is capped at one stack, but it still builds while you are there.
- If you have zero luck banked, you get no loot drops at all from enemies and breakables. Ammo, money, organs, throwables, ingredients, meals and repair items do not count as loot and cost nothing, so you always get those.
- Each equipment loot drop draws from the bank: guns cost 12, oils and trinkets cost 10, treasures cost 10, and shoes, body armor, helmets, sights, laser sights and weapon insurance cost 5.
- Chests never take points from your luck bank, so open weapon chests freely. Your bank persists across areas, teleports to the church and removing luck items, but resets whenever you quit to the main menu or close the game.
- Everything remains RNG-based: with 20 banked you can still go several levels without a drop, and later areas like Fortress, Desert and Endless have better loot spawn rates anyway.

Charisma
Charisma was also off for nearly all of Early Access and has been re-enabled. Charisma gives you a discount when buying from vendors, and that discount caps at 25%. The Crown wearable is the big charisma item — patch 1.0.1 confirmed it grants Charisma +50 — but the same player notes you may be better off selling the Crown for around 7,500 soulcoin instead. The Hawkland salesman's side quest (bring him fresh dog eyes) rewards the Hawkland membership card, which gives a 15% discount with him; the same player says it does stack with the charisma discount.
Weapon weight
Heavier weapons reduce your movement speed. You can offset the penalty with pieces from the ballistic armor set or by drinking a sports drink.

Other vague attributes worth knowing
- Drag: some oils, like Matrix oil, apply drag, which slows your bullets over distance and nerfs your effective range heavily. Rail gun enchantments, including on Holy Fire, fire at extreme speed and are immune to any negative bullet speed effect.
- Poison blood: no description at all; the same player reports it works as the name suggests.
- Charm and fear scrolls: charm turns whoever it hits into your ally (the Love Jar works the same way); fear makes enemies panic and cry like a stronger blind.
- Voodoo scroll and Holy Water: voodoo links two enemies so they share damage; Holy Water's "removes voodoo" text refers to breaking that link.
- Loaded die: re-rolls what you get from loot, affecting rarity rather than drop rate.
- Gag and utility items: spring coil boots just add a spring sound to jumps; the blindfold literally blinds you; ear protectors muffle sound and come with +1 armor and +30 explosion resistance; shades, ski goggles and diving masks darken the screen, and shades let you shoot a Novanian Guard's light sphere to stop its blinding flash.

FAQ
What do SULFUR item attributes like luck actually do?
Luck increases the chance of items dropping, drawing from a bank capped at 20 that builds one stack per minute of active play (more with luck gear). Guns cost 12 from the bank, oils and trinkets 10, treasures 10, apparel 5, and chests cost nothing. With zero banked luck, equipment drops stop entirely.
Does charisma work with vendor discounts?
Yes. Charisma gives a buying discount that caps at 25%, and the Crown adds Charisma +50. The Hawkland membership card's 15% discount reportedly stacks with it.
Why does poison blood have no description?
Perfect Random intentionally leaves some item text vague, and poison blood has no description at all. Players who catalogued the game's special attributes say it does what the name implies.
Does luck affect chest loot rarity?
No. Chests do not consume your luck bank, and luck affects drop chance, not rarity. The loaded die item affects rarity of both chest loot and drops.
Check note: attribute behavior here comes from first-hand player testing in the videos "SULFUR Item Attributes, Secrets and More Explained" and "Everything You Should Know About Luck in SULFUR" on YouTube, plus patch details on the official Steam page. Perfect Random has not officially documented luck or charisma mechanics, so exact numbers stay unconfirmed by the developer.
