SULFUR Quests: Vendor Guide to Stamps and Arthur Rewards

Quick answer

Talk to any NPC to take a quest, complete it for Stamps, and spend those Stamps with Arthur, the church vendor. That is the whole loop, and it was added by the Quest Update (21 October 2025) with quest dialogue options added to all NPCs in Sulfur. Since the 1.0 release on 28 October 2026, the game also ships a built-in quest log that tracks your current quests digitally, so you no longer need a notepad beside your keyboard to keep the requests straight.

This page covers how to pick up SULFUR quests, which vendors are worth farming, how to track what you owe, and what your Stamps actually buy.

How the quest system works

The SULFUR Quest Update patch notes lay out the three pillars of the system:

  • Quests can be taken from the NPCs scattered through the world. Every NPC got quest dialogue options, so anyone you meet may have a request.
  • Stamps are the reward. They are described as a new ethereal currency used to buy cool new things for the church. Crucially, Stamps are not lost on death, so unlike your gear, quest progress pays off even after a bad run.
  • Arthur is the vendor who trades Stamps for rewards. He is the entire spending side of the system.

The 1.0 launch announcement on the official Steam page for SULFUR confirms the loop survived into full release: quests are listed among the core content (more than 60 firearms, hundreds of loot items, multiple areas, bosses, enemies, quests, cooking, weapon modifications), and 1.0 specifically added the quest log, "an all digital tracker of your current quests."

SULFUR How to take and complete a quest

How to take and complete a quest

  1. Find an NPC and open dialogue

Approach any vendor or character and talk to them. Quest dialogue options exist on all NPCs, so a character who only sold you ammo yesterday may still have a request for you.
  2. Accept the request

The NPC asks for specific items, usually in quantities of one to five. Requests are random per vendor. A player who tested the system across 13 vendors reports each one draws from a themed item pool, for example Kevin asking for items you find in the Forest and Sewers.
  3. Check your quest log

Since 1.0, open the quest log to see who wants what. Before 1.0, players in Steam discussions complained there was no in-game list and resorted to Steam Overlay notes or a physical notepad, so consider the quest log a major quality-of-life upgrade.
  4. Collect the items on your runs

Most requested items are common: the Steam discussion thread names rocks and sticks as typical asks. Rarer requests exist (one player spent an hour and a half hunting wet wipes in the Sewers for Ralphie), so stash hard-to-find quest items in your church storage as you find them.
  5. Return to the NPC and hand over the goods

Deliver the items to the same vendor to collect your Stamps. The same item can pay different amounts from different NPCs; players report sunglasses earning 5 Stamps from Stiffleg but only 2 from the rat lady.
  6. Spend Stamps with Arthur

Take your Stamps to Arthur and trade them for church upgrades and other rewards.

Which quests are worth farming

A player who ran 130 recorded test quests (10 per vendor across all 13 vendors) shared a rough ranking in their "Everything You Need to Know About SULFUR's Stamps and Quests" video. Their conclusion, in descending order of convenience:

  1. Kevin – asks for small, easy-to-find items and sits at the church, making turn-ins trivial. Five Swing-Dings from the Forest reportedly takes about five minutes for five Stamps.
  2. The Gravedigger – asks only for meals and earthworms, and stands right next to the Caves entrance, so cave runs feed his requests directly.
  3. Skrip – asks only for cheese-related items, and cheese is abundant in the Caves.
  4. Fex – asks for many items at once, but they are easy to find in the Forest (mushrooms and snails).
  5. Grossberg – reliably asks for organs; the Sewers are the best hunting ground for human, dog and goblin flesh.

At the bottom of that ranking: the Hawklin Salesman (throwables and guns are bulky to carry) and the Rat Queen (clothes only, often not worth a detour). Remember this ranking is one player's estimate, not official balancing.

Two system notes from the same testing worth knowing:

  • Nothing resets a quest once a vendor has it. The delivery demon refreshes shop inventories but does not reset quests.
  • The Quest Update patch notes record that a vendor reroll exploit tied to exiting to the menu was fixed, so rerolling is no longer a reliable way to swap requests.

SULFUR Farming tips for Stamps

Farming tips for Stamps

  • Stash valuable quest items. Wet wipes (3 Stamps from Ralphie), hard shell tacos and cheeseburgers (2–3 Stamps), cotton swabs, green tea gum and lemonade (3 Stamps each) are all small items worth banking.
  • Grab every stick. Sticks appear in many requests and go into tongue-on-a-stick, meat skewers, sawdust and stick grenades, making them, in one player's words, the undisputed champion of questing.
  • Buy the toilet early from Arthur. It is shared storage across runs and the church, letting you dump quest items you can't carry.
  • The holoreality projector brings a run vendor to the church next to Ralphie's workbench, letting you turn in without traveling. According to the same player, refreshing inventories with the delivery demon and teleporting back can change which vendor it spawns.

FAQ

How do I take quests in SULFUR?

Talk to any NPC. The Quest Update added quest dialogue options to all NPCs, and completing their requests earns Stamps that are not lost on death.

Do I lose my Stamps when I die?

No. The Quest Update patch notes state Stamps aren't lost on death, which is what makes questing a reliable long-term currency source.

Can I track quests without a notepad?

Yes, since 1.0. The 1.0 release added a quest log, described by the developer as an all digital tracker of your current quests.

Can I reroll a quest I don't want?

There is no confirmed reroll option. Players in the Steam discussions asked for a paid reroll, and the patch notes only record that a reroll exploit was fixed, so treat rerolling as unavailable unless a future update changes that.
